Description

Quality description

This grading combines ¾ sides of defect-free wood with one side of 1st or 2nd choice, in which sapwood, small knots, or color variations are permitted. Ideal for projects where one high-quality visible side is sufficient. European oak QF1A / 1 Bis – Bis / 2e is imported directly from European sawmills, sustainably managed (FSC®/PEFC), and kiln-dried to 8–12% moisture content before finishing.

Appearance and structure

The planks have a calm, even appearance on the visible sides, with the classic grain of oak. The less selected side may contain natural characteristics such as small knots or light sapwood. The color ranges from light brown to medium brown, depending on the origin and drying time.

Applications

Indoors:
Furniture, wall panels, stair parts where only one side is visible.

Outdoors:
Facade cladding with concealed back, fences, overhangs.

Structural:
Partly visual load-bearing elements, where one side remains visible.

A mix of 3/4-sided, 1st and 2nd sides, and sapwood-free. For the woodworker who can tolerate a few pits or knots.

Drying process of our wood

As soon as the wood arrives from the sawmill, the freshly sawn wood is first brought to the drying rooms. After the wood has been in the front carrier, the wood is further dried back to around 8-12% KD. Once from the drying rooms, several moisture measurements are taken per bundle to check the correct moisture percentage.
