Description

Quality description

QF 3/4 quality is a structural wood selection in which sapwood, large knots, cracks, and warping are permitted. Visual perfection is subordinate to functional strength. This oak variety is often used for rough construction, both indoors and outdoors. The source is also sustainable here, with FSC® or PEFC certification. The planks are kiln-dried (KD) to approximately 8–12% moisture content.

Appearance and structure of the European oak KD QF 3/4 quality

This wood has a robust, rough character with many visible natural features. The color is uneven, ranging from light to dark brown, depending on the degree of oxidation and sapwood. The grain and growth rings are strong and distinct.

Drying process of our wood

As soon as the wood arrives from the sawmill, the freshly sawn wood is first brought to the drying rooms. After the wood has been in the front carrier, the wood is further dried back to around 8-12% KD. Once from the drying rooms, several moisture measurements are taken per bundle to check the correct moisture percentage.
