Description

Quality description

European oak in Antique quality is selected for its distinctly weathered appearance. This grade includes open knots, sapwood, cracks, weathered surfaces, and color variations – perfect for applications where authenticity and character are paramount. This wood has the charm of reclaimed or aged oak, but comes directly from European sawmills. It is kiln-dried to 8–12% moisture content and is available with FSC® or PEFC certification.

Appearance and structure of the European oak antique

Antique oak displays a wide palette of color shades—from weathered silver-gray to aged deep brown—and a rich texture of knots, cracks, and occasional saw marks. The grain is coarse and irregular, contributing to its historic appearance. Ideal for those seeking materials with a lived-in and authentic feel.

Tables, wall coverings, fireplace surrounds, shop and catering furnishings with vintage character.

Outdoors:

Special use:
Restoration projects, set construction, furniture with historical or robust design.

Mix of 3/4 silks, flawless to moderately to coarsely rustic, sorted by the presence of dead wormholes.

Drying process of our wood

As soon as the wood arrives from the sawmill, the freshly sawn wood is first brought to the drying rooms. After the wood has been in the front carrier, the wood is further dried back to around 8-12% KD. Once from the drying rooms, several moisture measurements are taken per bundle to check the correct moisture percentage.
